"I want to reveal the beauty in ordinary things through the use of drama, focus, and mystery. I believe in the power of beauty to improve our lives. It was this belief that led me to a career in architecture. When I began to learn oil painting, I found that my training in architecture was a blessing for my art. It has allowed me to pursue a style that is relatively loose and energetic yet structural and precise. I am inspired by several 19th and 20th century realists whose work combines the appearance of immediacy and looseness with unsurpassed draftsmanship and the ability to truly observe reality."
